Environmental Responsibility

Being Yorkshire Farmer's and getting the best value for money go hand in hand!

But we also care deeply about our surrounding environment. We are always looking at ways to improve our farming practices and holiday accommodation impacts. Below are details of what we have achieved so far, but we are always looking for other practices to improve upon.

Farming Practices

Farming is our business but we also care for the environment. We follow good farming practice in all that we do, limiting the use of fertilisers and crop protection products to the minimum. We have invested heavilly into improving the farm yards and steading to improve drainage and clean and dirty water separation.

Wildlife Corridors

Over the last 15 years we have replanted and  actively managed our hedgerows to allow connectivity between habitats and to encourage wildlife.

Green Energy

All our accommodation is double glazed and insulated to a high standard. In addition we use Biomass to heat the farmhouse and the Retreat.

Water Conservation

We have invested in a large manure store and replaced large areas of failed concrete on the yardyard to improve clean and dirty water separation, thereby reducing pollution rates from run off. A number of the new sheds' roofs have also been piped up to rainwater harvesting tanks.

Recycling

All accommodation units and guests on our caravan site are encouraged to recycle tins, plastic bottles, glass and cardboard.

The Little Things

We have removed individually wrapped biscuits and small bottles of shower gel etc from our self catered accommodation and now provide refillable bottles of Faith in Nature Products for guest to use  in the bathroom. For cleaning we use products from Ecover and Method.

Do you really need your car?

Well to get her probably...(although we have had guests arrive solely through the use of public transport and a taxi for the last part).

But once you are here, if you are into walking, cycling or nature there really is plenty to see to keep you entertained without the need to venture out in your car. Make use of the Activity Friendly, High Farm and Beadlam Rigg pages of this website to plan walking and cycling routes to really appreciate our wonderful location!

I am also a National Park Champion, so if you have any questions about the locality please just ask and I'll do my best to help answer your questions.
