AROUND HIGH FARM

High Farm, Beadlam Rigg is the ideal place to explore North Yorkshire and beyond and is situated right at the gateway to the North York  Moors National Park. The CL site and Static Caravan are located at the centre of the farm, close to the steading. Click through the photos below to get an idea of what happens throughout the seasons. ~We are open all year around!

SUMMER

In summer the heather moorland bursts into colour transforming the landscape.

Everything is growing and beginning to ripen. The livestock is all out to pasture and the sheep are happy to loose their cozy fleece and enjoy some sunshine on their backs. The hay is made and the bales gathered in.
Local Shows are on most weeks in the area through the summer giving local farmers the opportunity to showcase their livestock and produce.

AUTUMN

Autumn can be silly season on the farm!

We race against the weather to keep the combines rolling and get the straw baled whilst it is still dry to ensure it lasts well for use as bedding all year around.

Apologies now...but the manure has to be spread (when the wind is in the right direction for you where possible!!) and the fields ploughed and replanted for the coming year.

WINTER

Once the fields are all drilled, the tups are out with the ewes and the cattle in the shed for winter, this can be our quietest time on the farm. Time for a well earned rest before the cycle starts again with lambing of the Pedigree Rouge flock starting just into the new year and calving in mid February.

SPRING

Who doesn't love Spring!?

The landscape starts to burst into colour again with spring bulbs and hedges starting to come into leaf.
Spring obviously means new life on the farm with calving in full swing and the second round of lambing towards the end of March.

The trees and hedgerows are filled of a chorus of yellow hammers, black birds and robins to name but a few and the Sky Larks will keep you entertained with their complexly composed melody overhead.
