PLACES TO EAT, FARM SHOPS & CAFES

You'll not go hungry in Yorkshire! We can certainly say that the area is well served by places to eat!
Our favorite restaurant is The Stapylton Arms in Wass where both the quality for the menu and portion sizes satisfy my hungry farmer!
Beadlam Grange Farm Shop, Ampleforth Abbey, The Black Swan Hotel in Helmsley, the Feversham Arms Hotel in Helmsley and also the Pheasant Hotel in Harome all serve fantastic traditional afternoon teas and and other meals too.
The Rose and Crown in Nawton Beadlam serves a Sunday Carvery and traditional pub food during the week. The Plough Inn in Wombleton, is also a traditional pub, however they has quite an extensive Fish menu too. There are many other traditional pubs and hotels, Italian and Indian Restaurants in Helmsley, Nawton and Kirkbymoorside all within 6 miles of the farm.
But if you really want to treat yourself or celebrate a special occasion, the village of Harome, which is only 4 miles away, has not one but two Michelin Starred eateries to choose from! Both The Star Inn and the Pheasant Hotel are a special treat which will leave you with lasting memories of a special meal, both of these also have lovely beer gardens to enjoy a Pimms in in the summer months.

Check out a Local Services Map to locate them all and more.

We’re located in the perfect, scenic and peaceful setting to explore all that the North York Moors National Park has to offer for you to enjoy your perfect holiday.

High Farm is set above the A170 between the Market Towns of Helmsley and Kirkbymoorside. This road is the main link between Thirsk, through Pickering and out to the Coast at Scarborough, travelling up Sutton Bank, but there is a caravan route signposted from Thirsk. Malton, Yorkshire's Food Capital is 30 minutes away and we are also within 45 minutes of York to enjoy a day trip to take in a bit of culture, history or retail therapy! Ryedale itself and the surrounding National Park also has an abundance of tourist attractions to offer, but each night you can return 'home' to our idyllic location and enjoy the remoteness of the setting.

CASTLES, STATELY HOMES & ABBEYS

Historic York and North York Moors National Park, have an abundance of history to be enjoyed by all ages. Helmsley Castle  and Rievaulx Abbey (English Heritage); Nunnington Hall and Rievaulx Terrace and Temples (National Trust) and Ampleforth Abbey and Cider Orchards are all within 10 miles of the Farm. Castle Howard is 30 mins away and will easily fill a whole day, visiting the house, the gardens and the extensive children's play area -Skelf Island.

If you are here for a longer period and are looking for a day trip that will fill your day we can highly recommend The RSPB Nature Reserve at Bempton Cliffs to see the Puffins and Sea Birds, its well fenced, but not for the faint hearted! The Autumn colours of Thorpe Perrow Arboretum are exceptional and they also have a birds of prey area and mammal centre too. The Forbidden Corner at Middleham was originally built as a folly.
