Here's our guide of how to fill your week for FREE!

This year more than ever so many of us are having to be a but more conscious of how we spend our money, but that is no reason to miss out on your holidays & the special memory making time that they bring!

So grab yourself a packed lunch & head out doors into the North York Moors National Park! Here are some ideas of how to fill you day for free (or just the price of a parking ticket!)

MONDAY - You can walk straight for your door at High Farm up onto the Heather Moorland and be feasting on bilberries within 1mile of the farm. There are endless walking and cycling routes that will fill your week, without even jumping in your car!
TUESDAY - The National Park has two visitor centres, Sutton Bank National Park Centre and Danby Lodge National Park Centre at Danby. The main focus at Sutton Bank is Walking and Cycling with Cycle hire available.
WEDNESDAY - Whilst at Danby there is more to see inside as well as out and both sites have extensive play areas and plenty of activities happening throughout the year and lovely short walks from the centres with fantastic scenery to be enjoyed.
THURSDAY - Dalby Forest is similar offering Walks and Cycle Routes, extensive play areas and also rivers and play in an rocks to climb over. Dalby has everything from a flat, pushchair friendly short walk and kids cycle skills area, right up to long and testing routes for the more competent riders!
FRIDAY - The National Park is full of heather moorland and Jurassic coastline with its traditional Fishing Villages to explore. They are beautiful to look at but even more wonderful when you start to learn some of the history surrounding their past!
SATURDAY - Why not have another day on the coast? There is plenty of Fossil Hunting and Rockpooling to be done when you get down onto one of the beautiful sandy beaches.
SUNDAY - Are you ready for a rest yet?? Maybe you'll need another week with us to recover!?

Platinum Jubilee Weekend

What a weekend of celebrating and flag waving!

How were the Platinum Jubilee celebrations with you?

I’m sure everyone all over the county is ready for another weekend to recover from a fun filled 4 days of celebrating.

The villages and communities around here put on a wonderful show, and it was lovely to all be able to get back together again at village Galas and Tea Parties.

Highlights around here were the Nawton/Beadlam Scarecrow Competition which had nearly 60 fantastic entries and the Kirkbymoorside Brass Band entertaining the crowds all day with all ages and levels of experience. Each village had their own Gala involving dog shows, car shows, horse and pony shows, children’s running races and a favourite in Nawton/Beadlam, the Egg throwing competition to name but a few of the activities.

Everyone had a fantastic time and similar levels of community spirit will be demonstrated throughout the summer at the local Agricultural shows, details of which can be found in the link below from the North York Moors National Park’s website. 4 Mile Circular Walk or Cycle from the Farm

Panoramic Moorland Views

are your reward for walking 1 mile North from the Farm

The first thing that people generally ask when they arrive on site is "Are there any footpaths in the area?"

Well the answer to that is "Yes" and they are well worth an explore!

Walking North from the Farm there is a 4 mile circular walk or bike ride that follows the escarpment of Beadlam Rigg, and then back onto quiet country roads in front of Nawton Tower, before picking up a bridleway again that joins back onto Beadlam Rigg.

The route heads straight north of the farm, following the Green Lane where the public road finishes, for 1 mile, through the woods (don't stop there!) to the Trig Point which is a great walk in itself. However if you can manage the full 4 miles the views into Sleightholme Dale and beyond are stunning and far reaching. It is a lovely walk or cycle with long but very gentle inclines but is generally very sound under foot.

On route you could enjoy Panoramic views of Ryedale, Woodland wildlife, Red Kites and Buzzards soring overhead, Beautiful Heather moorland (& if you time it right plenty of bilberries too!), the distinctive coconutty smell of the bright yellow gorse flowers, Moorland Sheep, Traditional dales with pantile farmsteads and the bright coloured rhododendrons in the garden's of Nawton Tower. I'm not sure how much more you would need to fit into a short walk from site!

This is one route to get you started, but there are many more to be explored in the area. The " Beadlam Rigg " page on our website will take you straight to an interactive map which has a number of routes plotted to get you started on your exploring adventure. Introducing "The Retreat"

Our Modern, 2 Bedroom, Farm Stay, Holiday Home.

This winter we decided that it was time to replace our much loved static caravan!

We’ve been working away over the last few weeks removing the old static and siting the new one that we have name ‘The Retreat’.

We hope all our loyal customers, along with new ones will love the upgrade as much as we do!

It really has completed our accommodation portfolio, bringing it up to the same standard as "The Bothy".

I’ve being doing my research and a beautiful, modern, farm stay static in an idyllic rural location is hard to find so there is no need to look any further!

Our first guests have now returned home after a 10 day stay with us and have given "The Retreat" a great review.

As I kept the booking diary closed until I was certain that it was finally finished, we do still have availability for a summer get away.(Friday to Friday over the summer holidays or a minimum 3 night stay at other times). Please get in touch to get booked in before we get booked up.
